Loughton AC’s Louise Christan has been training hard for the London Marathon, which takes place on 26 April.
Louise was awarded the Club’s place this year as a result of her dedication to the Club and her supportive attitude.

Louise explains what the Club means to her: ‘Loughton AC is more than just an athletic club. It offers a community where people of all ages and abilities come together to stay active build confidence, and support one another.
‘I joined the club in 2023, my confidence at all time low and still struggling with post-natal depression, it took a lot to get myself out the door and to my first cold November session. I was met with so many friendly faces and encouragement, despite the session involving a lot of hills, I have never looked back.
‘From young athletes starting their athletic journey, mums returning to running, grown ups embarking on new challenges, to experienced runners chasing new goals, the club provides a welcoming and encouraging environment for everyone.
‘Whether embarking on a Couch to 5k, taking on parkrun, racing around muddy fields in the winter, attempting silly distances on the roads and trails, or competing on the European stage, the club supports everyone no matter their motivation.
‘Most remarkably the club is entirely run by a team of wonderful dedicated volunteers. Coaches, organisers, committee members, officiators, marshals, cake bakers and supporters give their time and energy week in, week out, come rain or shine, to keep the club thriving. Their commitment helps create opportunities for so many people, regardless of background or experience.’
Louise is keen to give back to the Club by raising money on her big day.
She goes on to say, ‘By supporting my silly ideas like running the London marathon, my sponsors will be helping Loughton Athletic Club continue to provide and maintain facilities, support training, and ensure the club remains accessible to the whole community.
‘Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference.
‘Thank you so much for your support!’
Huge thanks to Louise for using her London Marathon experience as a sponsorship opportunity for the Club… we wish her the very best of luck in the run of her life!
