Loughton AC athletes had an excellent morning out at the Essex Veterans' Cross-Country Championships on Saturday 3 December, returning with both team and individual medals.

Running over a 5.2 mile course in the race for women aged 40+, Zoe Oldfield and Mary Knapman led the team home in 4th and 5th place. They were backed up superbly by Georgina Taylor and Sharon Palmer who ran strongly to the finish finishing in 33rd and 35th place respectively.

Zoe's performance made her the first finisher in her age category and therefore Essex V45 champion!

The women veterans' team gained the bonze medal in 2021 and are half way through a cross-country season in which they currently sit top of the women veterans' category in the Chingford League and are flying high in the Essex League.

There were also fine performances from the men's team with Kristian Jarvis (V40), Chris Thomas (v40), Robin Daines (V50), Jon Whitehouse (V50) and James Lambden (V60) all running well in their age categories.
