Inter-club vets race on Saturday 5 November 2022
Loughton AC looks forward to welcoming our friends from East London Runners, Victoria Park Harriers & Tower Hamlets AC, Vets AC, Ilford AC and Orion Harriers to Roding Valley Recreation Ground for our annual inter-club veterans competition on Saturday 5 November.
Race start is at 11am and the clubhouse will be open from about 10am for changing, toilets and to pick up numbers. £3 contribution requested for each runner. Bring some cash for tea and cakes after the race!
We encourage runners to travel by public transport as the start is a short walk from Loughton tube station. There is a car park at Sainsburys, a small free car park at the bottom of Roding Road and limited parking in residential roads around the recreation ground including Highwood Lane. Please park responsibly.
The course is one short lap over the recreation ground, then over a narrow bridge onto the fields for two longer laps before returning over the bridge to the finish. Parts can get muddy after rain. Total distance approximately 4.8 miles. Course is suitable for spikes and trail shoes: there are some very short sections where the course crosses over tarmac or concrete paths. There are sets of kissing gates to negotiate at two points.
Green dot is start and finish point. Download GPX file.
Teams of four to score. Scoring runners must be over 40 on race day. Men's and women's categories. The 2021 team winners were Loughton AC (women) and Eton Manor AC (men). The individual winners were Jenny Heymann (Eton Manor) and Gary Towers (Eton Manor).
We need help from Loughton AC members to lay the course, act as marshals, bake cakes and help with catering on the day.
0945 Course layers meet to mark out course
1030 Marshals meet (should be free by noon and in some locations, earlier)
1100 Start (men and women start together)
Marshals from other clubs much appreciated too.
